These durable hardwearing balls are made to withstand everyday playground use.

Street Rugby Balls for Tough Conditions

If you’re playing on rough surfaces or engaging in intense street play, our HART Street Rugby Balls are engineered to handle it all. They’re tough and resilient, perfect for the demands of non-traditional playing environments.

Choose the Right Size Ball

Rugby league balls come in various sizes, designed to suit players of different ages and skill levels. Using the correct size is crucial for developing skills and ensuring proper handling.

Size Age
Size 3 (Mini) Under 9 years
Size 4 (Mod) 9 to 12 years
Size 5 (Senior) 13 years to Open

Size 3 (Mini): For mini rugby players under 9 years old. Smaller and lighter, this ball is easier for young players to handle and pass.
Size 4 (Mod): Used by junior teams from ages 9 to 11 years. It’s slightly larger and heavier than a size 3 ball but still manageable for growing players.
Size 5 (Senior): The official size used in senior and professional rugby leagues for players over 13. This ball offers a larger grip and more weight, suited for advanced gameplay.

Local leagues, schools, and clubs often provide guidelines for which ball size is required based on the age group or competition level, so it’s worth checking those before purchasing.

Grip and Handling

Rugby league is a fast-paced, physical sport, and having the right amount of grip on your ball can be the difference between a clean pass and a turnover. Balls with a textured surface or raised pimples enhance grip, especially in wet conditions.
For training, a ball with moderate grip can help players develop handling skills in various weather conditions. Match balls tend to have advanced grip, making them ideal for higher-level play where every pass and catch counts.

Specialty Training Balls

The HART Soft Touch Rugby Coaching Ball is excellent for beginners to the game and has been designed in conjunction with leading development coaches. The ball features hands printed on the ball to show correct hand placement for carrying and passing.

The HART Pass 'n' Catch Rugby Ball is great for developing passing skill or simply having fun. The flat surface of the ball is designed to bounce straight back off a wall so accuracy and power can be developed via high repetitions without the need for a partner. Can also be passed pointy end first to work on reflexes and catching.

Material Matters

The material of the Rugby League ball influences its durability, grip, and performance.

Synthetic Material: Rubber synthetic rugby balls are affordable and offer excellent water resistance, making them ideal for wet weather. They’re durable and require less maintenance, perfect for rough play or practice sessions.

Budget Considerations

Consider your budget when choosing a rugby league ball. While high-end match balls can be more expensive, they offer excellent grip and optimal performance. Training balls, on the other hand, are typically more affordable and ideal for practice or casual games.

Final Pass

Choosing the right rugby league ball is a combination of understanding regulations, selecting the correct size, and considering the material, surface, and grip. Whether you're training or competing, using the appropriate ball ensures better performance and helps players develop their skills.

At HART Sport, we have the right rugby league ball for every player and every game!
