School Series – The Story Behind the Range
Our School Series equipment has been the most popular range since its introduction in 1995. As a tribute to the School Series, we look back on its origins and why it stands the test of time!
When HART Sport began 25 years ago, we set out to make it easier to keep active. To keep Schools active they need gear for every sport in many junior and senior sizes. However, many Schools expressed that their biggest problem was the they needed equipment that wouldn’t be stolen.
Our solution to this problem was to make School property easier to identify. As a result, the School Series was created! The distinct yellow and black colours set the range apart from the usual white sport balls. This made them easily recognisable for staff and stopped students claiming they had brought the ball from home.
The School series logo, ball type and size were printed on each ball. This made it simple when getting gear from bins and kits in storage. A fail safe is that balls are permanently marked “This is a School Ball” and equipment labelled “School Property”. The School Series range was originally launched as a range of balls for basketball, netball, soccer, volleyball, rugby union, rugby league, touch and Aussie rules. After a huge response, the range quickly expanded to include water polo balls, gridiron balls, handballs, badminton & tennis racquets and hockey sticks. Baseball and softball gloves were also introduced in 1999. The range was such a success that the iconic colours have not changed since its introduction.
HART Sport General Manager, Dan Benham explains the popularity of School Series, “We have worked with teachers to give them the products they need. Our School Series range is durable enough to withstand playground use - because we know kids love to play. This long lasting quality at such an affordable price is why teachers love this range. It has proven to be such a simple solution to what used to be an ongoing problem. It is no surprise the concept has been copied by so many other suppliers.”
Our School Series equipment is now used in over 12,000 Schools across Australia and New Zealand. The range has been around for many years and because it meets the needs of teachers and the kids using it, it will be around for many more.
